Entrance Fees

Brown County State Park in Nashville, Indiana is open every day, all year long, from 7 am to 11 pm. (However, some park features are only open seasonally.) All visitors must pay the entrance fee or provide a current annual entrance permit. Even campers and Inn or Cabin guests must pay the entrance fee (or provide an annual permit) upon entering the park.

NOTE: during winter (early November through Late March or First of April) there is no fee to enter the park on weekdays (Monday-Thursday).

  • $7 In-State Daily Entrance Fee
    For noncommercial vehicles with Indiana license plates, every day including holidays. Admits driver and passengers. This applies to all State Parks and state-managed lakes, excluding Falls of the Ohio State Park's Interpretive Center and Prophetstown State Parks (see below). 
  • $9 Out-of-State Daily Entrance Fee
    For noncommercial vehicles with out-of-state license plates, every day including holidays. Admits driver and passengers. This applies to all State Parks and state-managed lakes, excluding Falls of the Ohio State Park's Interpretive Center and Indiana Dunes and Prophetstown State Parks (see below). 
  • $2 Daily Fee
    For each person, 5 years old and older, entering as a pedestrian, on bicycle or on horseback. 
  • Passenger Vans/School Buses with no Scheduled Group Program/Motorcoaches/Commercial buses
    $2 per person, ages 5 years and above 
  • Groups with program reservations
    $1 per person program fee. 
  • $5 Daily Horse Permit
    Entrance for one day per horse at DNR properties where horse use is allowed. Vehicle admission is not included. 
  • $5 Daily Off Road Cycling Fee
    Entitles one off-road bicycle use of mountain bike trail for the day. Vehicle admission is not included.
  • $20 Annual Horse Tag
    Entitles one horse access and the use of DNR properties where horse use is allowed. Good from January 1 until December 31 of the year issued. Vehicle admission is not included. Annual horse tag can be purchased online
  • $20 Annual Off Road Cycling Permit
    Entitles one off-road bicycle use of mountain bike trails for the calendar year. Park gate fees are extra. Annual off road cycling permit can be purchased online.
  • $50 Annual entrance permit
    Admits noncommercial vehicles, driver and passengers to DNR properties that charge a gate fee.* Good from January 1, until December 31, of the year issued. You can buy annual permits from The Mother Nature's Mercantile
  • $70 Non-resident annual entrance permit
    Admits non-Indiana resident noncommercial vehicles, driver and passengers to DNR properties that charge a gate fee.* Good from January 1, until December 31, of the year issued. 
  • $25 Golden Hoosier Passport
    For Indiana residents who are at least 65 years of age or a resident eligible for Social Security disability payments under 42 U.S. C. 401 (proof of eligibility must be presented at time of purchase and disabled individual must be present in the vehicle at time of use); admits noncommercial vehicle, driver, and passengers. Good from January 1 until December 31 of the year issued. Price is 1/2 the Resident Annual Entrance Permit.* 
  • Golden Hoosier Permit Special Cases:
    Indiana residents who are former POW's or their surviving spouses are entitled to a free Indiana Golden Hoosier Permit. These are mailed automatically at the beginning of each year. Direct questions to jplanck@dnr.in.gov

    Indiana residents who qualify for a DAV1 or DAV2 license plate, may purchase an Indiana Golden Hoosier Permit regardless of age. Please present a completed form 32584 (Certificate of Eligibility for Veteran License Plates) at the time of purchase.

    *DNR Annual Entrance Permits and Golden Hoosier Passports are not valid at Indiana Historic Sites that charge an entrance fee.

NOTE: RVs & vehicles towing trailers must use the West Gate Entrance (off S.R. 46, west of Nashville).
The North Gate Covered Bridge is restricted to 9 foot height and 3 ton weight limits.
Horsemen's Campground users should use the entrance off 135 South.
